Kinoorgel Live! Stumm-Film-Zeit im Musikinstrumentenmuseum
Die 2023 mit der Vertonung von BEGOTTEN (1989) eingeleitete Kooperation mit dem GEGENkino wird in diesem Jahr in unserer Reihe Kinoorgel Live! Fortgesetzt. Bei GEGENkino meets Kinoorgel werden erneut Seh- und Hörgewohnheiten auf die Probe gestellt: Stummfilmorganist Jürgen Kurz wagt mit uns das Experiment, einen Film von 2017 live an der Welte-Orgel zu vertonen – somit zeitgenössisches Filmemachen mit altehrwürdiger Kulturpraxis zu verbinden, wie man sie ansonsten mit der Stummfilmzeit bis Ende der 1920er Jahre assoziiert.
SLEEP HAS HER HOUSE ist der Titel von Scott Barleys preisgekröntem britischen Experimentalfilm – und dieser ist so bedeutungsoffen und entrückt wie die Bildwelt des Films selbst. Steht sie doch für eine traumgleiche, hypnotische, nicht zuletzt ungewohnt entschleunigte Kinoerfahrung. Barley zeigt uns in seinem ersten abendfüllenden Film eine Welt, die in tiefe Schatten und sublime Lichtstimmungen getaucht ist.

We are delighted to continue the cooperation between GEGENkino and the Musical Instrument Museum of GRASSI Museum, which began in 2023 with the soundtrack to BEGOTTEN (1989), and to once again put viewing and listening habits to the test at GEGENkino meets Kinoorgel: Silent film organist Jürgen Kurz will join us in the experiment of live scoring a film from 2017 on the Welte organ – thus combining contemporary filmmaking with a venerable cultural practice associated with the silent film era up to the end of the 1920s.
SLEEP HAS HER HOUSE is the title of Scott Barley's award-winning British experimental film – and it is as ambiguous and other-worldly as the visual world of the film itself. It stands for a dreamlike, hypnotic, not least unusually decelerated cinema experience. In his first feature-length film, Barley shows us a world immersed in deep shades and sublime lighting moods.
